Wrap-up: May 2017

June 3, 2017 Wrap-up 3

It’s time to take a look at the whirlwind that was May.

My uni stuff for this semester is complete, so I am finally catching up with all of the reading and writing I have been yearning to do for the last few months!

I read four books, plus a bunch for my final assignment. Most of the month was actually spent reading A Court of Wings and Ruin, which Philippa and I reviewed for episode 54 of the podcast.

This month I also attended two book launches, like some kind of professional, lol. The first was for Draekora, the third book in the Medoran Chronicles by the lovely Lynette Noni. That was a really lovely night, with themed decorations and juices. I do recommend her series – it’s just getting better and better!

The other book launch was for a friend’s picture book, Little Turtle Needs Help by Luise Manning. Beautiful paintings help to tell a story of a little turtle swimming out to sea, and all the dangers it faces along the way.

Then there was the Penguin Teen Australia Showcase, where I got to meet Jennifer Niven (All the Bright Places and Holding Up the Universe), and Krystal Sutherland (Our Chemical Hearts), plus hear about all the great books that Penguin are publishing in the next few months. The authors also gave a fantastic talk about their inspirations, their upcoming movie adaptations(!) and lots more. Also I found out that Jennifer Niven is a big Supernatural fan, so guess who is my new favourite person?

Phew, it’s been a busy month, but June is shaping up to be a great month for catching up. Have a great June!
