In this episode, we discuss The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood (spoiler-free!) and the TV series adaptation. We also discuss what we’ve been watching, reading and listening to recently (A Monster Calls, Game of Thrones, Wheel of Time). This episode was recorded on 26 July 2017.
At one point I mentioned that Kimberley Freeman is Kim Wilkins’ pen name for Mystery books. That’s not true – she writes commercial women’s fiction under that name. Sorry Kim!
We hope you enjoy listening and we would love to hear your feedback. Is there anything you would like us to talk about in particular? Just let us know!

Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. She has only one function: to breed. If she deviates, she will, like dissenters, be hanged at the wall or sent out to die slowly of radiation sickness. But even a repressive state cannot obliterate desire – neither Offred’s nor that of the two men on which her future hangs.
The Handmaid’s Tale TV series is on SBS on demand in Australia, Channel 4 in the UK and Hulu in the USA.
Have you see the series and/or read the book? What did you think?
