Wrap-up: September 2017

October 1, 2017 Wrap-up 2

It’s October, and Queensland has already had our first spring heatwave. Summer is coming!

After so many awesome books came out during September, I’m finding myself drowning under the tbr pile. I have so many books I want to read next that I can’t decide which one to start with!

This month was all #loveOZYA – three books, plus some of Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff. I’m hoping to get stuck back into that one very soon.

Early in the month I volunteered at the Brisbane Writers Festival, including at theย LoveYA event at Brisbane Square library. We heard some inspiring and entertaining panel discussions from Aussie authors including Garth Nix, Amie Kaufman, Meg Caddy,ย Jay Kristoff, Maria Lewis and Kimberly Starr.

Philippa and I discussed some upcoming sci-fi book-to-tv adaptations that have recently been announced in episode 57 of the podcast. There’s certainly some excellent stories available – I hope they can do them justice on the screen. We also had a spoilery chat about the latest Game of Thrones series.

Reviews for Beautiful Mess and A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares will be up very soon, but I actually went on the radio to discuss these two books with Rhianna Patrick on her #OzYAY show, earlier tonight. As a podcaster, it was fascinating to watch how a live radio show works! If you missed it live, you’ll be able to listen to the whole show here at the ABC website.

I hope you read some great books during September! Tell me about them ๐Ÿ™‚
