Welcome to Tea in the Treetops, and Angelya’s goals list for yet another Bout of Books Read-a-thon!
Here’s a bit of information about the read-a-thon:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 17th and runs through Sunday, August 23rd in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 14 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Goals
I’ve had Bout of Books number 14 on my calendar since the end of the last one, but it’s happened to coincide with my re-read of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, just in time for the release of book 4, Queen of Shadows! I already started (and finished) Throne of Glass last week, but I’m really hoping to get a nice bookmail surprise early this week… 🙂
These are the books I’d like to read this week. Unless I’m completely broken after reading Queen of Shadows, that is!
Crown of Midnight(last few chapters)Heir of Fire- Queen of Shadows (if bookmail arrives!!!)
- Knight’s Shadow, Sebastien de Castell

Updates
Day 1: Monday 17th
Books read: Crown of Midnight (p 348 – 417 (end)), Heir of Fire (first 20% – 112 pages)
Pages read: 69+112
Page total: 181
Comments: Finished Crown of Midnight on the train on the way to work. Oh my heart, I had forgotten how many feels are in the last part of this book! My hard copy of Heir of Fire seems to have gone missing and I can’t remember who I loaned it to, so it’s back to the kindle ARC. Thank goodness I keep everything on my kindle like a hoarder xD
Day 2: Tuesday 18th
Books read: Heir of Fire (20% – 63% (pp112-354))
Pages read: 242
Page total: 423
Comments: I remember now – because this book has many points of view spread across three locations, there is a lot of setting up and slow character development in the first half of the book. Poor broken Celaena 🙁 I know there’s some arse-kicking coming though… 🙂
Still no book mail!! Although Philippa has her copy now, aaaarggh!
Day 3: Wednesday 19th
Books read: Heir of Fire (63%-end, p354-562)
Pages read: 208
Page total: 631
Comments: Heir of Fire was my least favourite of the series so far but quite an important book, character-wise. Since my anticipated book mail didn’t arrive, I took an evening off from reading and will start back on Knight’s Shadow tomorrow. Hurry up, Queen of Shadows!
Day 4: Thursday 20th
Books read: Knight’s Shadow (3-10%, pp18-60)
Pages read: 42
Page total: 673
Comments: Thursdays are my day out and about with the kids, and while I might have got some reading done tonight, instead I recorded a podcast episode! So very little reading done today. On the upside, although my bookmail didn’t arrive, the lovely Philippa has very graciously let me read her copy of Queen of Shadows, as she’s re-reading the other books first. So tomorrow it’s on for young and old!
Day 5: Friday 21st
Books read: Queen of Shadows (pp 1-99)
Pages read: 99
Page total: 772
Comments: I stayed home sick today, so no train reading. Because my little one was at home with my mum as well, I was sociable rather than spending the day in bed reading like I probably should have. Oh well. In other news, I’m barely into Queen of Shadows and it’s already breaking my heart!
Day 6/7: Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd
Books read: Queen of Shadows (pp 100-318)
Pages read: 218
Page total: 990
Comments: Another busy weekend, despite being unwell. Add to that the fact that it’s pretty much impossible to get any reading done with two small children demanding to be entertained, and I had a bit of a disappointing total over the weekend!
Reading time disappointments aside, I am loving Queen of Shadows! A bit slow in the early stages as plans are laid but… it’s all going to hit the fan pretty soon, I’d say.
Final update: Not too shabby, just shy of a thousand pages for the week and roughly two fairly big books read. I was so busy and/or ill that I didn’t even get to catch any of the twitter chats or challenges which are usually the best part of BoB (apart from the reading, of course), but I hope everyone else had a great week 🙂
Sharlene
Good luck!
I love that your TBR is a series. It should make you want to pick up the next book straight away. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before. Might be my plan for the next #boutofbooks
Angelya
It seems to be working well so far, I think I might keep it for future read-a-thons! xD Have a great week Sharlene 🙂
Sarah @ Flood of Books, etc.
Love Sarah J Maas’ books! I still need to finish the last part of Heir of Fire, but the first two were excellent. I still think about A Court of Thorns and Roses and can’t wait for book 2. Rereading is a great idea. Good luck with your goals!
Sarah @ Flood of Books, etc. recently posted…The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes

Thanks Sarah!
