Meeting Jack on the Owl – San Francisco’s night bus – turns Beatrix’s world upside down. Jack is charming, wildly attractive . . . and possibly one of San Francisco’s most notorious graffiti artists.

On midnight rides and city rooftops, Beatrix begins to see who this enigmatic boy really is. But Jack is hiding much more – and can she uncover the truth that leaves him so wounded?

A unique and profoundly moving novel, Night Owls will linger in your memory long after the final page.

Brisbane Street Art

Around the Brisbane City Council area, there used to be boring grey boxes at every traffic light intersection. I say used to be, because now there are brightly coloured art works all over them as part of the council’s Artforce program. Local artists are able to paint their works onto traffic signal boxes, to brighten up the neighbourhoods! You can see them all over Brisbane, but I’m going to share two of my favourites.

(Read on to enter the giveaway!)

The first is near where I used to live, at Annerley (the corner of Ipswich and Waterton Roads, to be exact). What tickles me about this one is that it’s just outside a medical centre, so the Doctor is nearby!

The second box is a more recent one, located at the intersection of Oxley Road and Nelson Street, Corinda, just up the road from the Corinda Library and another of my old neighbourhoods. This one has a message running around it saying “Books light up our world”. It was painted by Tanya Hempson. My kids loved it! And yes, Evie is holding a book called Rudey’s Windy Christmas. But that’s a story for another day.
