Welcome to the first #LoveOzYABloggers prompt.

#LoveOzYABloggers is hosted by #LoveOzYA, a community led organisation dedicated to promoting Australian young adult literature. Keep up to date with all new Aussie YA releases with their monthly newsletter, or find out what’s happening with News and Events, or submit your own!

Since you’ll mainly find Fantasy and Sci-fi books on this blog, that’s what I’ll be attempting to showcase with these features. I hope I can recommend you something!

High School

The Medoran Chronicles by Lynette Noni

This series not only has the most gorgeous covers you’ve ever seen, but takes place in a magical school in a parallel world. While the first book feels more aimed at teens, each subsequent book has been growing up with the characters and becoming more and more epic. Also, dragons. Just saying.

The Medoran Chronicles currently consists of Akarnae, Raelia and Draekora, with more on the way.

The Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl by Melissa Keil

While this book is not actually spec-fic, it’s an adorably geeky story about a group of friends about to finish high school in a small Victorian town. It’s a coming-of-age story where the friends must help each other choose where their paths will lead after school, but set against the backdrop of a hippie invasion into their town. Hilarious, and so, so cute.

The Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody

A school for young people with supernatural abilities, post-apocalypse, working with animals to save the world from a second disaster. This was one of the longest-running Aussie Fantasy series until the seventh book was published in 2015, and is a favourite for many readers.
