How is it September already? August was gone in a flash, I swear.
I’ve been back into the swing of uni and things. I read a grand total of two books, but one of those was the enormous and intimidating Assassin’s Fate by Robin Hobb. It was so great to get back into that world! Hobb is one of the great fantasy storytellers, and this trilogy has been full of nostalgia for fans.
I also really enjoyed Vigil by Angela Slatter, a paranormal mystery set in Brisbane. I loved the references to local places and culture, and the whole book had a very Aussie feel. Also, Verity Fassbinder is awesome.
I joined in with Bout of Books #20, which I think actually forced me out of my reading slump, because since then I’ve read a whole lot more than I was before!
Philippa and I didn’t get to catch up to record this month, but we’re hoping to get something in your ears in the next week or so.
This coming week is the Brisbane Writer’s Festival! I’ll be volunteering at the LoveYA event at Brisbane Square library, so please, say hi if you’re about 🙂
And that’s all there is to say about August! I hope you read some great books.
