Welcome to Tea in the Treetops, and Anni’s goals list for yet another Bout of Books Read-a-thon.
Here’s a bit of information about the read-a-thon:
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 8th and runs through Sunday, January 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 21 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Goals
I love Bout of Books read-a-thon! I have this terrible habit of making BoB weeks the worst of the reading year, though. This week I’m determined to get some reading in. Reading slumps can just go away!
You can see all my updates as I progress further down on this post.
My list this week includes:
- Reign the Earth by AC Gaughen (from about 50% mark)
- The Last Days of Us by Beck Nicholas
- The Dangerous Art of Blending In by Angelo Surmelis

Happy reading, everyone.
Updates
Day 1: Monday 8th
Books read: Reign the Earth, AC Gaughen (p233 – 336)
Pages read: 103
Page total: 103
Comments: So I already read some of this book last week while I was away camping, and I hadn’t been enjoying it that much. It was slow in the first part of the story, but today I found the pace picked up and it started to get more interesting. This book is dark! Certainly not for the faint-hearted.
Day 2: Tuesday 9th
Books read: Reign the Earth, AC Gaughen (336 – end)
Pages read: 112
Page total: 215
Comments: Okay, the ending of this book is excellent. Way better than the start was! I’m not sure what to rate it because of that, but my review will be up next week, closer to the launch date, so I’ve got a bit of time to think about it.
Next up: The Last Days of Us.
Day 3: Wednesday 10th
Books read: None!
Pages read: 0
Page total: 215
Comments: I worked at home today, and while you might think that means time to read, because I didn’t go anywhere on the train, I didn’t read anything! Sucks 🙁
Day 4: Thursday 11th
Books read: The Last Days of Us (pp1 – 78)
Pages read: 78
Page total: 293
Comments: So far, so high school road trip drama…
Day 5: Friday 12th
Books read: None
Pages read: 0
Page total: 293
Comments: Argh, no time to read today at all. Took my kiddies shopping and didn’t get near a book 🙁
Day 6: Saturday 13th
Books read: The Last Days of Us (pp78 – 269 (end))
Pages read: 191
Page total: 484
Comments: That’s a better total! It was hot and sticky in Brisbane today, and I sat down and read the rest of this book in one go, like a proper read-a-thon. I enjoyed it. It had some sweet romance in it, but I guess reading books like this confirms my feeling that contemporary YA usually isn’t my thing. Oh well!
Day 7: Sunday 14th
Books read: Nope 🙁
Pages read: 0
Page total: 484
Comments: Well, I didn’t get to read today, but I did write over 3500 words on my current project, so I’m counting that as a win. I hope you all had a terrific reading week 🙂
Erin @Paperbackstash
